Scouts

Scouting is the largest youth organisation in the UK providing almost half a million 6-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge, and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

This is not done in the form of sewing on badges or knot tying (unless that’s what our members want to do) but instead by camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling, canoeing, and much, much more! All of this is with friends, building teamwork skills, and solving challenges.

98th Pentland - History

We have been proudly providing the opportunity of Scouting to the Colinton Mains and Oxgangs area of Edinburgh since our church opened in 1954. The 98th Pentland (formally know as 98th Merchiston) amalgamated in 1998 when the 105th and 106th groups merged. On the 1st December 2007, 98th Merchiston became 98th Pentland as 4 districts merged from the Pentlands and Almond Valley districts to form what we all now know as the Pentland District. We are extremely happy to have approximately 60 young people within our 98th Pentland Scout Group.
